At the end of June, I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph my first birth. It was the birth of my niece, Rita. It was so incredible. Maybe because it was the middle of the night, but it was so calm and peaceful. I arrived at about 10 pm that night and Hannah was in the early stages of labor. The midwife left and told her to get a couple hours of sleep and she would return when needed. About an hour later, her water broke! During the next short hours, Caleb did an awesome job of offering support and we tag teamed running around to get whatever was necessary for Hannah's comfort. It didn't take long to call the midwife back because she was progressing quickly. Sweet, little Rita was born at 2:40 am! We didn't know the sex ahead of time so it was an added bonus to be one of the first to know. My heart is full of love for this family.
I'm so thankful to have been able to be a part of and to capture this special time for them.
